About the "Sound In Story" Class

For 16 students, Winter Term became an opportunity to tell stories with some dynamic new tools. Using digital cameras and digital voice recorders, the WIN 203 class set up interviews with subjects who had lost loved ones, who rose beyond the limits of their disabilities, and who faced the danger of military combat with courage and good humor. Each student found unique stories to tell.

Once the audio portion of each story was gathered, students then planned their photo shoots so that their images would correspond to their sound files. Photos were edited in Photoshop and cropped for slide use.

The final step in the story-telling process was merging sound and images into a coordinated multi-media package. Using a software program called "Soundslides," students import both their photography and final MP3 audio track. Soundslides gave students the opportunity to "time" the audio to match the slide images.

The headlines below will link you to the stories these students produced. We hope you enjoy the shows. Click on the headline below to see each audio slide show.
