Media Design Class Explores 'Story Telling' Platforms

As a redesigned course in fall semester, 2009, JOU 123 (Media Design) included a new video unit and placed emphasis on story telling.

Students also gathered their story "assets" through still photography and audio to produce audio slide shows. This page is dedicated to those "Soundslides" stories.

The process bagan with collecting the audio portion of each story. Once the sound files were gathered, students then planned their photo shoots so that their images would correspond to their sound files. Photos were edited in Photoshop and cropped for slide use.

The final step in the story-telling process was merging sound and images into a coordinated multi-media package. Using a software program called "Soundslides," students import both their photography and final MP3 audio track.

The headlines below will link you to the stories these students produced. We hope you enjoy the shows. Click on the headline below to see each audio slide show.
